Electromechanical Engineer

The Electromechanical Engineer will be organized and driven. (S)he will be focused on excellence in program planning and execution, able to solve problems as they arise, finding required resources, internal and external, as needed to ensure successful and timely completion of deliverables and milestones. (S)he will ensure strong documentation, proposal and schedule development, have excellent communication skills, be a self-starter, work well within teams and be adept at mentoring direct reports and other resources.  In addition to supporting International Battery’s fundamental battery product design activities, (s)he will be responsible for the continuous improvement of our product development and product engineering support.

   
  Required Skills
 
  1. BSME with minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design, electrical or electronic packaging, sheet metal packages, electrical components/systems, and new product development.
  2. Must be able to execute systems design (best would be a high power inverter designer).
    1. Substantial experience in power systems
    2. Understanding of electrical component design
    3. Power distribution is a plus
    4. Electrical component selection and specification (such as connectors, support hardware, molded plastic components)
  1. Proficiency with Solid Works.
    1. PDM database management, simulation, drawings, sheet metal.
  1. Perform analyses (temperature, force, tolerance analysis, thermal and stress analysis, basic shock and vibration
  1. Full knowledgeable of documentation procedures
  2. Some understanding of manufacturing development (Design for Manufacturing, Failure Analyses, Yield Optimization, High Voltage Work Cell procedures etc.)
  1. BOMS, drawing packages, materials specifications and vendor management
  2. Strong understanding of electrical/theory
   
  Additional Skills
 
  1. This is a hands-on engineering assignment, and you must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  2. Expert in Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint knowledge a plus.
  1. We are an ISO:9000 work environment, experience as an auditor highly desirable.
  2. Must be able to lift and handle heavy battery assemblies.
  3. Travel frequently to satellite locations as necessary.  Initial training will include significant time in our New Jersey office.
  4. At least 3 years experience hiring, supervising, developing and leading mechanical design engineering staff desirable.
