ALLENTOWN, Pa – April 19, 2010 – International Battery (www.internationalbattery.com), a U.S. manufacturer and developer of large-format lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded certification for the International Organizations of Standards (ISO) 9001:2008. In addition, the company’s large-format 160Ah, iron phosphate lithium-ion battery cells have passed thorough and rigorous abuse testing in accordance with UN Transportation Testing (UN/DOT 38.3).

A system of quality management developed by the International Organization for Standardization, the ISO 9000 category has become an internationally renowned reference for quality management requirements in business-to-business dealings.

“ISO certification confirms to our customers, our investors, and ourselves that the processes we use and continue to improve upon lead to reliable, repeatable, high-quality products,” said Dr. Ake Almgren, President and CEO of International Battery.

In addition to meeting quality management standards of ISO, the first member of International Battery’s large format lithium-ion batteries has completed and passed UN Transportation testing. These tests include:
– Altitude Simulation
– Thermal Test
– Vibration
– Shock
– External Short Circuit
– Impact
– Overcharge
– Forced Discharge

Testing for the remainder of International Battery’s batteries is ensuing and expected to be completed within the next three months.

“By passing these UN tests, International Battery has proven that the quality and safety of our lithium ion battery cells meet the safety requirements for transportation,” said Dr. Almgren.
